TSF Denies Tinubu’s Link to ADC Crisis, Faults Party Leadership

The Tinubu Stakeholders Forum, TSF has dismissed allegations linking President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the internal crisis rocking the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
The group, in a statement signed by its Chairman, Ahmad Sajoh, and Secretary, Danjuma Sada, accused some leaders of the party of attempting to deflect attention from what it described as their failure to conduct due diligence before adopting the platform.
The forum said allegations blaming the President and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC were baseless and intended to shift responsibility for the crisis.
“We have taken note of recent allegations by elements within the African Democratic Congress seeking to blame President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and INEC for the internal crisis currently engulfing their party.

“We find these claims not only baseless but a deliberate attempt to shift attention from the consequences of their own actions,” the statement read.
According to the group, the crisis in the party stemmed from what it described as a disorderly and procedurally defective takeover process by certain opposition figures.
“By their own admission, the crisis within the ADC stems from a disorderly and procedurally defective takeover process by which some opposition figures sought to capture the party structure.
“This clearly exposes the root of the problem — an open disregard for due process, internal democracy, and the basic tenets of party governance,” it added.
The forum further argued that the development reflected a broader trend in Nigerian politics, where political actors prioritise personal ambition over institution building.
It said the unfolding events in the ADC mirrored patterns previously seen in the People’s Democratic Party, where internal divisions and leadership struggles led to fragmentation.
“For us, it is both ironic and instructive that many of the individuals now crying foul were central to similar conduct that led to the decline of the PDP,” the statement said.
The group urged ADC leaders to accept responsibility for the crisis, stressing that political parties must be built on discipline, structure, and adherence to rules.
It also cautioned against using democratic institutions as scapegoats for internal failures, insisting that blaming external forces would only erode public trust.
“At a time when Nigerians expect serious, policy-driven opposition, it is disappointing that ADC’s leadership has chosen the path of excuses over accountability,” the forum added.
The group, however, called on political actors across party lines to prioritise strengthening democratic institutions, deepening internal democracy, and presenting credible alternatives to Nigerians.
