Gunmen have reportedly killed 17 persons in Katsina State’s Karfi ward in Malumfashi Local Government Area.
According to reports, the terrorists stormed at least five neighborhoods in the Karfi ward on Friday, shooting indiscriminately at the defenceless residents, killing 17 people and wounding scores more.
An eyewitness narrated that, “They came around 11pm on Friday where they started shooting and looting, during which they killed about 17 people”.
A member representing the Local Government Council at the state House of Assembly, Aminu Ibrahim Saidu, who confirmed the incident, said he visited the areas and sympathised with the families over the unfortunate incident.
Recently, there has been an increase in criminal activity in Katsina State, which police officials attribute to an inflow of bandits from Zamfara and Sokoto states as a result of ongoing military operations in those regions.
