The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has given its nod to 110 Private Tour Operators for the issuance of licenses and slots allocation for the 2024 Hajj. This follows a meticulous screening process of these companies, ensuring they met the stringent criteria set for next year’s Hajj license.
To be deemed eligible, companies were required to present essential documents, including a certificate of registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission, an IATA (International Air Transport Association) certificate, and IATA-accredited staff and principal officers with a clean criminal record.
Additionally, companies had to demonstrate ownership of a minimum share capital of N30,000,000 (thirty million Naira), possess a standard corporate office, and show evidence of successfully operating in Umrah for eight years or Hajj for two years.

A refundable security deposit of N25,000,000 (twenty-five million Naira) was also mandatory to safeguard the interests of registered pilgrims in case of contract violations or other infringements.
The announcement comes after the public invitation for interested companies to submit applications for the 2024 Hajj license, which was advertised in major Nigerian newspapers on 29th September 2023.
Out of the 155 companies that applied, 58 were initially successful, while 97 were disqualified with the opportunity to appeal. Following the appeals process, 52 companies met the criteria for qualification, bringing the total number of approved private operator companies to 110.
