The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON has deployed a senior delegation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to advance preparations for the 2026 Hajj exercise.
In a statement by Ahmad Muazu, Technical Assistant (Media) to the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NAHCON, Prof. Abdullahi Saleh Usman, the Commission said the delegation was mandated to conclude all outstanding accommodation arrangements for Nigerian pilgrims in Makkah in line with Saudi regulatory timelines.
According to Muazu, the deployment was part of the Commission’s early planning strategy aimed at avoiding operational delays and ensuring full compliance with Saudi Arabian Hajj regulations.
He said the delegation would provide executive oversight, finalise and take over all pending accommodation arrangements and submit a comprehensive report to the Commission immediately after completing its assignment.

Quoting the Chairman, Muazu said the team would submit a detailed report to the Commission immediately after completing its assignment in Saudi Arabia.
He noted that the deployment aligned with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which places emphasis on the welfare and spiritual well-being of Nigerian pilgrims.
The NAHCON boss added that the Commission, operating under the supervision of the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, was committed to concluding all Hajj preparatory activities within approved timelines.
While the delegation carries out its assignment, Prof. Usman disclosed that he would remain in Nigeria to receive the Saudi Arabian Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, who is expected to visit the country later this month, while also coordinating the activities of the team.
He said NAHCON had strengthened its internal governance, coordination and oversight mechanisms to ensure accountability, procedural compliance and effective engagement with service providers and relevant Saudi authorities.
Prof. Usman stressed that the Commission’s actions were guided by its statutory mandate as Nigeria’s Hajj regulator, adding that its decisions were institutional and collective.
He assured stakeholders and intending pilgrims of the Commission’s readiness to deliver a smooth and well-coordinated 2026 Hajj by improving planning discipline, professionalism and operational efficiency.
