The Kwara State Government has sanctioned a school teacher, Hajia Hamzat Fatimoh Nike, accused of maltreating a youth corps member posted to Government Day Junior Secondary School, Kulende, Ilorin.
This follows the outcome of an investigative panel which found her guilty of fighting on duty, using foul language, insubordination, and disrespecting the national identity represented by the corps member’s uniform.
These actions, as posited by the Commissioner of Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu, and the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Teaching Service Commission, Mallam Bello Tauheed Abubakar, contravene public service rules, resulting in her demotion by two grade levels, transfer from her current school, and mandatory counseling sessions.

The government emphasized that it will not tolerate abuse under any guise and reassures the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC that the incident does not represent the state’s values.
INCNews247 recalls that the incident occurred last week when the corps member was accused of not greeting the teacher properly, leading to physical altercation and damage to the corps member’s NYSC T-shirt.
The state government has urged teachers to remain law-abiding and perform their duties according to established procedures.
It also pledged to prioritize training on teaching ethics and procedures of service to prevent similar incidents.
