The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced the commencement of recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force, following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive for the enlistment of 50,000 constables to strengthen community policing and boost internal security.

In a statement obtained by INCNews247 early Thursday morning, the Commission said the recruitment portal would open on December 15, 2025, and close on January 25, 2026.

The statement, signed by Torty Njoku Kalu, Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, noted that the exercise would be conducted jointly with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

The PSC said the move was aimed at expanding the manpower of the police and improving response to emerging security challenges across the country.

According to the Commission, applicants for the General Duty cadre must possess a minimum of five credits in SSCE, NECO, GCE or equivalent qualifications, including English and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings.

For the Specialists cadre, candidates are expected to have at least four credits, including English and Mathematics, alongside a minimum of three years’ experience and relevant Trade Tests in their fields.

Eligibility requirements also include Nigerian citizenship by birth, age limits of 18 to 25 years for General Duty applicants and 18 to 28 years for Specialists, as well as medical, physical and psychological fitness.

Height requirements for General Duty applicants are pegged at 1.67m for males and 1.64m for females.

The Commission stressed that the entire application process is free, warning applicants to be cautious of impostors and fraudulent individuals seeking to exploit the exercise.

“The Commission wishes to emphasize that the recruitment exercise will be conducted in the most transparent, merit-based and credible manner. Application is free as there will be no payment required at any stage,” the statement said.

PSC said detailed guidelines would be available on the portal — www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng — which will go live on December 15, as well as on its official website and social media platforms, including those of the Nigeria Police Force.

The Commission urged qualified and willing Nigerians to seize the opportunity to serve the nation.
