INEC Urges Nigerians to Register as CVR Ends Sunday

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has urged eligible Nigerians yet to register as voters or update their voter records to do so before the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration, CVR, exercise closes on Sunday.
The commission, in a reminder issued on Saturday, said the exercise was designed to ensure that every eligible Nigerian has the opportunity to participate in future elections.
INEC stressed that only citizens whose names appear on the official voters’ register would be eligible to vote during elections, urging prospective voters not to miss the deadline.

The electoral umpire also called on Nigerians who have relocated, lost their Permanent Voter Cards, PVC, or need to correct their personal information to visit designated registration centres across the country before the exercise ends.
It assured the public that its officials were working to ensure a smooth and accessible registration process nationwide.
INEC, however, cautioned against waiting until the final hours of the exercise, noting that a last-minute rush could result in overcrowding and delays at registration centres.
The commission urged prospective registrants to comply with registration guidelines and cooperate with officials to facilitate a seamless exercise.
Reaffirming its commitment to credible, transparent and inclusive elections, INEC described voter registration as a critical foundation for Nigeria’s democratic process and appealed to all eligible citizens to take advantage of the remaining time before the registration window closes on Sunday.
