The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN has faulted a statement by Kaduna Electric alleging transmission constraints affecting electricity supply to Jos and its environs.

TCN, in a statement issued by its management on Thursday and seen by INCNews247, described the claim as false and a deliberate misrepresentation of facts.

The company said all 330kV transmission lines connected to Jos were currently in service and transmitting bulk electricity.

According to TCN, the only incident recorded occurred at about 3:30am on August 23, 2026, when the circuit breaker of the Jos-Lafia 330kV Line 2 was opened for voltage control.

It explained that the action was a routine operational measure taken to maintain grid stability, adding that the line was successfully restored at 11:59am on August 24.

TCN said there had been no outage or disruption of bulk electricity transmission on any 330kV line supplying Jos since the restoration.

The statement read, “TCN categorically states that the claim is false and a deliberate misrepresentation of facts.

“For the avoidance of doubt, all 330kV transmission lines connected to Jos are in service and transmitting bulk power.

“TCN recorded a lone incident on 23rd August 2026 at 03:30hrs, when the Jos-Lafia 330kV Line 2 circuit breaker was opened for voltage control. This was a routine operational action to maintain grid stability.

“The line was successfully restored and back in service at 11:59hrs on 24th August 2026.”

The transmission company urged Kaduna Electric and other stakeholders to verify information with TCN before issuing public statements capable of causing confusion and anxiety among electricity consumers.

“TCN remains committed to transparency and to efficient transmission of bulk electricity to Distribution Companies nationwide.

“We urge Kaduna Electric and other stakeholders to verify facts with TCN before issuing statements that misinform the public and create unnecessary anxiety,” it added.

TCN also appealed to electricity customers in Jos and surrounding communities to disregard what it described as misleading information, assuring them of its continued efforts to work with distribution companies to ensure stable and reliable electricity supply.
