The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN has commenced repairs on the 132kV Kumbotso-Dan Agundi Line 1 after an earth fault triggered a system trip during heavy rainfall and strong winds in Kano.
INCNews247 learnt that the incident occurred at about 10:05pm on Monday, causing a forced outage along the transmission line.
The TCN Kano Region, in a statement issued on Thursday, said the line was immediately isolated to enable its maintenance crew to conduct a detailed patrol and identify the cause of the fault.
According to the statement, the patrol, which was completed on Tuesday, led to the discovery of a tilted cross-arm and a snapped conductor at two separate locations between Towers T707 and T708.

It said the damaged cross-arm would have to be removed and reinstalled before the required repairs could be completed.
The company explained that efforts were being made to minimise the impact of the outage on electricity consumers and commercial areas across the Kano metropolis.
“TCN has successfully transferred allocated loads from the 33kV feeders at the 132kV Dan Agundi Transmission Substation to other available 132kV substations within the Kano Electricity Distribution Company franchise, until restoration is complete,” the statement said.
The transmission company apologised to affected consumers for the inconvenience caused by the forced outage, assuring them that its maintenance personnel were working to complete the repairs and restore normal bulk power supply.
