Aso Villa, others face power outage as TCN fixes Gwagwalada substation

The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN has announced a three-hour power outage around Aso Villa and other parts of Abuja on Wednesday as it carries out urgent maintenance at its 330/132kV Gwagwalada Transmission Substation.
TCN said the maintenance exercise would run from 10am to 1pm, during which the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC would be unable to take electricity supply to customers in the affected areas.
The transmission company, in a notice issued on Wednesday and received by INCNews247, said its maintenance crew would work on the 33kV, 6MVA earthing reactor at the Gwagwalada substation.

The affected areas include Aso Villa, Asokoro, African Medical Centre, Kabusa, EFAB Estate, Apo Resettlement, Zone E Extension, Trademoore and adjoining communities.
“Consequently, Abuja Electricity Distribution Company will be unable to off-take electricity to customers around Aso Villa, Asokoro, African Medical Center, Kabusa, EFAB Estate, Apo Resettlement, Zone E Extension, Trademoore, and adjoining areas,” the statement said.
TCN said the maintenance was urgent and necessary to ensure the continued reliability of the transmission facility.
The company apologised to electricity consumers in the affected communities for the inconvenience the exercise might cause.
