Assembly Bid: Akogun Receives Backslapping from Stakeholders, Constituents
The House of Assembly Aspiration of Comr. Abdulrasheed Akogun today received major boast as numerous stakeholders and party members threw their weight behind his aspiration, stressing that he’s shown uncommon capacity, understanding of the realities on ground and have displayed unmatched readiness for the onerous task of being a parliamentarian.
It would be recalled, the investigative journalist turned politician, had few days back made his intention to via for the Share/Oke-Ode constituency seat at the Kwara State House of Assembly, stressing that having done wide and far reaching consultations, he’s convinced that he’s the best hand to represent the constituency towards taking it to its pride of place.
Abdulrasheed Akogun while addressing the ward Chairmen in Oke-Ode township, commended them for remaining steadfast in support of truth and their conscience, adding that they’re with the Social Democratic Party (SDP), because they’ve all placed good name and conscience over and above their pockets and immediate returns.
The good governance advocate however enjoined them to continue on that path for a little more time, emphasizing that the next electioneering exercise will usher in a government they can in all ramifications call their own.
Reacting on behalf of the ward Chairmen, Rasheed Jimoh, commended the aspirant for choosing to invite the chairmen to his hometown and not somewhere outside the constituency, a development which he described as novel.
He said “Akogun, has shown that he’s a grassroot politician and one with a strong base at home, this is the first time we ward chairmen will be invited to the hometown of an House of Assembly aspirant and it’s a sign that, Akogun is serious and ready for the business.
“We commend his numerous contributions to the party’s growth, its membership and the Kwara project, we want to assure him, that we’re with him all the way and would ensure, the party this time around settles for a quality we all can be proud of” he added.
Other Chairmen present at the meeting include Chairmen of Shaare ward 1, Shaare ward 2, Shaare ward 3, Shaare ward 4, Oke-Ode ward 1, Oke-Ode ward 2 and Ile-ere ward.
