BBYDI Unveils Panelists, Theme for 2021 International Youth Day

The Brain Builders Youth Development, BBYDI – a youth-based non-governmental organisation – is set to hold its annual International Youth Day event for 2021. The organisation is committed to youth development and entrepreneurship, using its platform to drive conversations to help young people thrive.

In the past seven years, we have organised events to commemorate International Youth Day. We bring young people together to deliberate on pressing issues that concern their community, country and the world.

The theme for this year’s event is: Transforming Food Systems; Youth Innovation for Human and Planetary Health. The focus of this theme is to highlight the crucial role young people have to play to achieve human and planetary health.

By 2050, the world’s population is expected to increase by two billion people. With this estimation, providing a larger volume of healthier food alone will not be sufficient to ensure the wellbeing of humans and the planet. Hence, major stakeholders have identified that the world needs inclusive support mechanisms and the integration of biodiversity to transform food systems.

To achieve these global objectives, young people are pivotal to the success. Young people are needed to amplify efforts and serve as innovators contributing solutions to the international agenda.

This is why we have lined up a panel of exciting speakers to discuss how we can innovate as young people and ensure that humans are safe and our planet protected. They include: Atinuke Lebile – She is the Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Cato foods, a fast-growing food company using biofortified staple crops to combat malnutrition.

Funmilayo Olawale Ajibike – She is the founder and the Lead Chef at JR Cakes Limited.

Adewale Ayodeji Badejoko is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Frootify; a health and wellness brand focused on creating a healthy lifestyle across major cities in Nigeria.

Tolulope Aina – She is the founder of Tolulope Foods and Farms, a nutrition-based company providing solutions to malnutrition in Nigeria and Africa.

Albert Kure – He is one of the twelve Guides/Facilitators in the Global Food Systems Game Changers Lab supported by the United Nations Food Systems Summit.

Our speakers are experts with in-depth knowledge of food systems, agriculture, and the role of young people. We look forward to an engaging and informative event as we welcome participants from across the globe.
