Census: NPC Chairman Pays Courtesy Visit to SGF

The Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Hon. Nasir Isa Kwarra, led a delegation of Federal Commissioners and Directors of the Commission in a courtesy visit to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Sen. George Akume, CON, at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation in Abuja on Monday.
The purpose of the visit was to apprise the SGF of the progress made in preparations for the upcoming Population and Housing Census and to seek his support for the successful execution of the exercise.
In his address, Hon. Kwarra conveyed to the SGF that the Commission had achieved significant milestones in its preparations for the census.

He said these milestones encompassed the successful completion of the Enumeration Area Demarcation (EAD) exercise, the recruitment and training of census personnel, and the formulation of the census master plan.
Hon. Kwarra earnestly appealed to the SGF for assistance in securing the necessary funding and resources indispensable for the triumphant execution of the census.
He underscored the census’s paramount importance to national development and encouraged all Nigerian citizens to actively participate in the forthcoming exercise.
Responding to these concerns, the SGF reassured Hon. Kwarra of the Federal Government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the success of the 2023 Population and Housing Census. He underscored the census’s pivotal role in national affairs and affirmed the Federal Government’s pledge to provide the requisite support.
The SGF commended the NPC for its diligent efforts in preparation for the census and urged the Commission to continue its rigorous work to guarantee a free, fair, and credible census.
The Population and Housing Census is a critical national undertaking that will furnish essential data on Nigeria’s population size, distribution, and characteristics. This data will be instrumental in informing planning and development initiatives at all levels of government.
The NPC extends a call to all Nigerians, urging them to actively participate in the 2023 Population and Housing Census, emphasizing its significance for the nation’s growth and prosperity.
