The National Population Commission, NPC, has revealed plans to train 20,000 personnel for the upcoming 2023 National Population and Housing Census in Delta State.
Chief Richard Odibo, the state NPC’s Federal Commissioner, disclosed this during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Asaba.
The trained personnel will serve in various categories such as enumerators, supervisors, and coordinators.

Odibo mentioned that the commission has been carrying out training for all levels of functionaries in other parts of the country, including Delta.
He added that the commission had commenced the processes for the success of the 2023 census, and has conducted enumeration area generation across the country.
He stated that every local government area in Delta had been demarcated, including the hard-to-reach areas.
The commission had also tested its instruments and conducted a trial census within Delta, he added.
Odibo acknowledged that some people were unaware of the new innovation that would be employed during the exercise.
He urged the people of Delta to cooperate and make themselves and their children available to be counted, and to discard myths about census that do not hold water.
The commissioner emphasised that the census would enable the Federal Government to plan for every citizen of the country, including children, both able-bodied and physically challenged.
Odibo called on the state government, policy makers, and decision makers to enlighten their people on the need to make themselves available to be counted.
He highlighted that the data generated from the census would be disseminated to policy makers for the country’s development.
