Coup in Benin as Soldiers Seize TV Station
Benin Republic has been thrown into confusion on Sunday following reports of an alleged coup attempt targeting President Patrice Talon, INCNews247 can report.
Sources said the operation began in the early hours with an attack on the president’s official residence in the capital, Porto-Novo.
Soldiers, reportedly led by Lieutenant Colonel Pascal Tigri, took over the national television station and announced that President Talon had been “removed from office” along with all state institutions.

INCNews247 reports that the group behind the attempt has identified itself as the Military Committee for Refoundation.
President Talon, who has been in power since 2016, was scheduled to step down next April following the presidential election.
Although as at press time, his current whereabouts remain unknown.
Confirming the incident, the French Embassy in Benin warned citizens of the tense situation, reporting on social media platform X that “gunfire was reported at Camp Guezo,” near the president’s residence, and urging French nationals to remain indoors for their safety.
