EFCC Grills Ex-Senate President Over N780mn Fraud

By Alabidun Shuaib Abdulrahman

Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, a former Senate President, was interrogated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday in connection with an alleged case of corruption and misappropriation of public monies.

Anyim, who arrived at the anti-graft agency’s headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, around 3 p.m. yesterday, was still being interrogated by a team of operatives when this report was written.

Though the exact claims against the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) were vague, a person acquainted with the matter claimed it could be linked to the corruption and money laundering case involving Stella Oduah, the former Aviation Minister and serving senator.

Senator Anyim allegedly has a stake in a company that received some of the rehabilitation money worth N780 million.

As at the press time, the EFCC Spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren is yet to react to the development.
