The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has responded to a recent media publication regarding the delay in issuing National Driver’s Licenses across the country.
In a statement released on Sunday in Abuja, Olusegun Ogungbemide, Corps Public Education and Strategic Communication Officer, applauded the media platform for its watchdog role but corrected some misconceptions conveyed in the publication.
Ogungbemide stated that the FRSC does not believe in apportioning blame but is keenly interested in getting the system to work for quality service delivery and customer satisfaction.

He explained that the entire processes surrounding the production of the national driver’s license are delicate due to the intelligence and data-gathering ability of the scheme, which requires a comprehensive overhaul.
Ogungbemide revealed that the FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, had visited the production plant to assess the issues militating against the smooth flow of production and had directed the plant to commence 24-hour production.
As a result, over 189,256 licenses have been produced and are awaiting collection at various State Boards of Internal Revenue across the country.
The FRSC Corps Marshal reassured that the integrity of the license process would be upheld at all times to sustain international acceptability.
Applicants awaiting their licenses are advised to proceed to their respective states for collection as the Corps continues its quest to clear the backlog.
