Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed said safe and efficient mobility remained central to Nigeria’s economic growth, noting that nearly 80 per cent of national economic activities depend on road transportation.
“For Nigeria to grow, the safety of every journey must reflect our collective aspirations for national development,” he said.
He described Safe Wheel Magazine as part of a renewed national education strategy that would bring knowledge, innovation and responsible mobility closer to the public.
With the festive season approaching, the Corps Marshal announced plans to scale up patrols nationwide, improve staff training, intensify intelligence reviews and strengthen logistics.
He also mentioned ongoing outreach programmes, including free medical missions for drivers at motor parks.
Mohammed commended the Corps’ sports teams, the Safety Shooters and Safety Babes, describing them as symbols of morale, wellness and national pride.
FRSC Public Education Officer, Assistant Corps Marshal Olusegun Ogungbemide, said the publication marked the revival of a long-standing tradition of safety communication by the Corps.
“Today, we ignite a national movement for safer roads and a more enlightened public,” he said.
He praised the leadership of the Corps Marshal widely referred to as Mr Impact, Mr Humanity, and Mr Movement for rejuvenating the FRSC’s public education mandate.
He also listed institutional partners supporting the initiative, including NASENI, UBEC, the Nigeria Customs Service, Galaxy Backbone, transport unions and technology firms.
Stakeholders at the event stressed the importance of community education, global safety commitments and involving children in building a culture of discipline and responsible road use.
The launch, performed by High Chief Dr Toe Ekechi, was described as a fresh chapter in Nigeria’s safety campaign.
Speakers agreed that road safety is a shared national responsibility and expressed optimism that Safe Wheel Magazine would serve as a vital resource for drivers and other road users, offering practical tips and information for safer journeys.
