FRSC Warns Against Night Trips, Unsafe Transportation After Deadly Crash
By Alabidun Shuaib AbdulRahman
The Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has appealed to stakeholders and the motoring public to caution their subjects against embarking on night trips and relying on unsafe means of transportation.
This call comes on the heels of a fatal road traffic crash that occurred on the Lapai-Bida route, involving a tanker loaded with petroleum, which resulted in the loss of 37 lives.

The crash, which happened at KM 02 Koriagi village Agaei, was attributed to speed violation, which led to loss of control and an inferno.
The Corps Marshal lamented that despite efforts to sensitize commuters on safe road use, many still disregard the campaigns and travel using unsafe means.
He noted that most trailer drivers travel at night when the operational arm of the Corps and task force are not available, making it difficult to enforce safety regulations.
The FRSC has been working with transport unions, security agencies, and state traffic management agencies to address the issue, but more needs to be done.
The Corps Marshal urged the public to complement FRSC’s efforts in bringing deadly road traffic violations to a halt.
INCNews247 reports that the crash involved a total of 55 male adults. Eighteen passengers were rescued with varying degrees of injuries. Thirty-seven people were killed in the crash.
The crash involved four vehicles: a DAF Tanker, two DAF Trucks, and a Toyota car.
