“The Corps, apart from issuing a press statement condemning the bad road use behavior, also made public the disciplinary actions taken against the staff,” he said.
Therefore, Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed cautioned the public to verify the accuracy and relevance of information before sharing it.
“We admonish the general public on the need to always verify the status and implications of information before being recycled as fresh, irrespective of the interest they intend to achieve with such publications,” he stated.
The FRSC added that the officer in question passed away on November 6, 2024 after a protracted illness.
The Corps appealed to the public to consider the emotional and psychological impact of sharing the video on the officer’s loved ones while expressing condolences to his family and friends.
Ogungbemide emphasized, “Rather than making such publications to spite the Corps, purveyors of such news should put into consideration the mental, emotional, and psychological implication of their actions on the deceased Officer’s family and friends who are obviously still mourning the passage of their loved one.”
He reiterated that the FRSC remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of discipline and professionalism among its personnel.
