Glamour, Talents’ Night as Movie Stars Set for 2023 AMVCA

The 9th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), considered one of Africa’s premier entertainment events, is set to commence tonight, May 20, 2023, at the Eko Convention Centre, Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos, Nigeria.

The red carpet will kick off at 4pm, followed by the main event at 7pm Nigerian time.

Toke Makinwa, Uti Nwachukwu, Sika Osei, and VJ Adams will serve as the red carpet hosts, engaging with the attending celebrities.

Viewers will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite male and female best-dressed celebrities, just like in the previous edition.

The organizers have emphasized that all guests should be seated by 7pm as the event will be televised across all Africa Magic channels.

IK Osakioduwa and Zozi Tunzi, Miss Universe 2019 from South Africa, have been announced as the hosts for the night.

Notably, Stan Nze and Osas Ighodaro were the winners of Best Actor and Actress for Drama at the 2022 AMVCA.

Among the movies receiving the most nominations are ‘Anikulapo’ with 16 nominations, ‘Brotherhood’ and ‘Shanty Town’ with 11 nominations each. ‘Anikulapo’ by Kunle Afolayan, ‘King of Thieves’ by Femi Adebayo, ‘Brother’ by Jade Osiberu, and ‘Battle on Buka Street’ by Funke Akindele have been nominated for Best Overall Movie, along with three other films.
