IEDPU Tackles Insecurity Across Ilorin Emirate
Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), the umbrella sociocultural organisation of the good people of Ilorin Emirate, has expressed its readiness to tackle the spate of insecurity gradually creeping into the Emirate.
It explained that it was working round the clock towards mobilising human and material resources to clip the cancer worm in the bud.
The Union, in a statement personally signed by its National President, Alhaji Aliyu Otta Uthman,fsi, said that the leadership of the organisation had met with the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq; and the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji(Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR; in a bid to address the spate of insecurity in Ilorin, the State capital.

He added that discussions with the two leaders were reassuring as they too are working relentlessly on the issue while appreciating the Union’s preparedness to key-in into the project.
He added that Ilorin Emirate has been an home of harmony right from the time immemorial and everything that is worth doing shall be done to ensure that the community remains peaceful.
While Alhaji Uthman explained that the national headquarters of the Union, which has the responsibility and the capacity with a standing security committee to handle such a sensitive issue, was planning a comprehensive security summit that would be graced by leaders of thoughts, serving and retired security experts as done about a decade ago by the body, the IEDPU President opined that the Union had arranged series of meetings with important and relevant stakeholders where useful suggested measures have been harvested to ensure that the community becomes more secured.
The IEDPU President said that, in addition to other measures being taken here and there, the Union’s forthcoming national conference would exhaustively discuss the matter and come up with a comprehensive plan of actions on all that are needed to be done to ensure that the community regains its status as a place of absolute peace.
The retired security technocrat, however, warned all those who are perpetuating criminality to stay clear of Ilorin and its environs, saying that if they refused they would find themselves in a state of perpetual regret.
Meanwhile, the IEDPU President appealed to security agencies not to relent in their efforts. He advised them to spread their tentacles across the community with a view to apprehending and bringing criminals to book.
He also enjoined Community,religious and opinion leaders as well as parents and guardians across the five Local Government Areas constituting the Emirate, in particular and the State, in general, to always prevail on their people to be more security conscious towards securing their lives and property as he advised that when you see something, you must report to the appropriate authorities accordingly!
