Ilorin Anchor Inaugurates New Executive, Unveils Development Agenda
The Ilorin Anchor Men and Women Initiative (IAMWI) has inaugurated a new executive members, led by Alhaji Abdulbaki Jimoh Jabaje, with a renewed commitment to drive development in the Ilorin Emirate.
The inauguration ceremony, held on October 27, 2024, at the historic city of Ilorin, marked the beginning of a new era for the organization.
In his acceptance speech, Alhaji Abdulbaki Jimoh Jabaje emphasized the need for unity, openness, and transparency in achieving the organization’s objectives. “We believe in oneness, we cherish openness, and we shall determinedly uphold the tenets of the group,” he said. “We also believe very strongly that there can’t be development where there is no love, where there is no peace, and where there is no security.”

The new president outlined his vision for the development of the Ilorin Emirate, noting the need to tap into the community’s vast economic potential, particularly in human capital and natural resources.
Jabaje also stressed the importance of youth empowerment and development, affirming that the organization would focus on rehabilitation, reorientation, and empowerment programs to address the challenges facing young people in the Emirate.
The outgoing president, Dr. Musa Alabi Abdullahi, presented a comprehensive report of the organization’s activities during his tenure, highlighting achievements in areas such as empowerment programs, education, and community development.
The event featured a public lecture on “Exploring the Economic Potentials of Ilorin: Reflection on the Past, Present, and Future” delivered by Alh. Babatunde Malik Salami.
The Ilorin Anchor Men and Women Initiative has been at the forefront of promoting the development of the Ilorin Emirate, with a focus on education, economic empowerment, and community development. The organization’s new leadership is expected to build on these gains and propel the Emirate to greater heights.
Alhaji Abdulbaki Jimoh Jabaje, the new president, brings a wealth of experience to the role, having served in various capacities.
He will be supported by Alhaji Ahmed K. Suleiman as Vice President, Hajjia Rodiyah O. Yahaya as Secretary General, Dr. Abdulrazaq Ibrahim as Assistant Secretary General, Alhaji Garba H. Mohammed as Financial Secretary, Dr. (Mrs.) Khadijat Aiyelabegan as Treasurer, and Alhaji Alabidun Shuaib AbdulRahman as Publicity Secretary.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by prominent stakeholders, including representative of IEDPU President, Professor AbdulGaniyu Ambali, Professor Saudat Abdulbaki, members of Ilorin Anchor Men and Women Initiatives, friends and family among others.
