The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has secured the conviction of Quadri Ismail Adeyinka, a staff member of the Nigeria Immigration Service, for committing passport fraud.
Adeyinka was arraigned before Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Apo, Abuja, on a four-count charge.
The charges included gratification, conferment of corrupt advantage, and cheating, all contrary to the provisions of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000, and the Penal Code Act.

During the trial, ICPC counsel Osuobeni Ekoi Akponimisingha presented evidence showing that Adeyinka defrauded Ovie Justice Ojeffia under the pretence of regularizing his international passport. Adeyinka received N100,000 (One Hundred Thousand Naira) from Mr. Ojeffia for this service but failed to deliver.
Following a petition by Ojeffia, the ICPC investigated the case, leading to the arraignment and subsequent conviction of the immigration officer.
Justice Onwuegbuzie found Adeyinka guilty on all four counts, sentencing him to seven years each for counts 1 and 2, five years for count 4, and two years for count 3. The sentences are to run concurrently.
