Insecurity: 1,056 Police Constables Begin Training in Kwara
Today, I flagged off a training course for the newly recruited 1,056 Community Police Constables for Kwara state. I commend President Muhammadu Buhari for approving a noble project like this as presented by the Inspector General of Police. This programme is not new all over the world but its implementation at this time is very significant.
Every Kwaran is integral to the success of the police. The people will have to give information that the police can act on. The police anywhere in the world are a product of the society and their success is often dependent on the community where they operate. Very integral to this initiative is effective intelligence gathering which is the essence of community policing.
As the training for the police constables got underway in the state capital, I followed closely a confidence building operation along the Ekiti/Kwara border by police and military operatives to deter criminal elements from having any toe-hold in our state.
To support their good work, this afternoon I handed over a new patrol vehicle to the Nigerian Navy. Several patrol vehicles will soon be given to other security agencies, including the police, as we revitalise their operations for them to do more to protect the lives and properties of our people.
AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq,
Governor, Kwara State.
