The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced the commencement of the licensing and slot allocation process for duly registered travel agencies intending to participate in the 2026 Hajj operations.

In a public notice signed by the Commission’s management, NAHCON invited interested agencies to apply through its Hajj Licensing Portal, stressing that all applications must be submitted not later than September 15, 2025.

According to the Commission, applicants must meet stringent requirements, including a minimum share capital of ₦30 million, valid registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), International Air Transport Association (IATA) approval, and at least four years’ satisfactory record in Umrah or Hajj operations.

The guidelines also stipulate that each application must be accompanied by a ₦300,000 non-refundable application fee and a ₦50 million refundable security deposit, in line with the provisions of the NAHCON Act (2006).

Successful applicants will be required to pay a ₦1 million licensing fee, submit details of their proposed Hajj packages, provide evidence of confirmed accommodation in Makkah and Madinah (not below three-star status), as well as secure airlift arrangements through NAHCON-approved carriers.

The Commission warned that only travel companies with clean records would be considered, noting that applicants with pending debts, unresolved complaints, or a history of pilgrims overstaying in Saudi Arabia will be disqualified.

It further emphasised that all payments must be made from the companies’ corporate accounts, while accommodation proposals must be presented for inspection on or before December 2, 2025, to avoid disqualification.

In addition, NAHCON reminded applicants that the deadline for Masha’ir camp booking is January 4, 2026, warning that failure to comply with stipulated timelines and guidelines would attract sanctions.

The Commission reiterated its commitment to transparency in the allocation of Hajj slots and urged travel agencies to ensure strict compliance with the laid-down procedures to guarantee a smooth exercise.
