Nigeria Customs Service Emerges Best Corporate Spokesperson Team

 

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has been crowned the Best Corporate Spokesperson Team at the 5th National Spokespersons Awards 2025.

 

The prestigious award ceremony, held at the Ladi Kwali Conference Centre, Abuja Continental Hotel, recognized the NCS’s exceptional public communication efforts.

 

The award, received by National Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, on behalf of the Comptroller-General of Customs, reflects the collective efforts and professionalism of the entire Customs communication team. Maiwada expressed deep appreciation for the recognition, highlighting the team’s dedication to transparency, reputation management, and stakeholder communication.

“This award is not about one person—it represents the dedication and synergy of our entire public relations team,” Maiwada said. “We have built a culture of collaboration and strategic engagement, focused on transparency, reputation management, and stakeholder communication.”

 

The NCS’s victory builds on its previous success at the 2024 edition of the awards, demonstrating its consistency in setting standards for public communication. “Winning again this year confirms that we are consistently raising the bar,” Maiwada added. “We are committed to fostering trust and credibility through accurate and impactful public engagement.”

 

The National Spokespersons Awards, themed “Voice of Influence, Champions of Change,” was hosted by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).

 

The event brought together notable personalities, including past and present Ministers of Information, such as Frank Nweke Jr., Lai Mohammed, Jerry Gana, Labaran Maku, and Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris.

 

Other dignitaries in attendance included Chief Segun Osoba, former Ogun State Governor and media veteran; Professor Taiwo Oyedele, Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Tax Reform; Professor Tonnie Iredia, Founder of the Tonnie Iredia University of Communication; Dr. Nkechi Ali-Balogun, Managing Director of NECCI Consult; Mallam Mahmud Jega, Editor-in-Chief of 21st Century Chronicle; Chief Adetokunboh Modupe, Chairman/CEO of TPT International; Ike Neliaku, President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations; and Honourable Joshua Audi Gana.

 

The NCS’s recognition reaffirms the vital role of institutional communication and public relations in the public sector.

 

The Service reiterated its commitment to excellence in public service communication and building sustainable relationships with stakeholders.
