Nigeria, Saudi Arabia Sign MoU on 2023 Hajj

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and the Saudi Ministry of Hajj have Monday morning signed the highly-anticipated Memorandum of Understanding for the 2023 Hajj at a ceremony held at the Super Dome Centre in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The document was signed by Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Amb. Zubair Dada, and witnessed by the Chairman and CEO of NAHCON, Alh. Zikrullah Kunle Hassan, as well as other board members and staff of the commission.

The memorandum includes the allocation of 95,000 Hajj slots for Nigeria this year, with 75,000 slots reserved for the 36 state pilgrims welfare boards, agencies, and commissions, including the Federal Capital Territory and Armed Forces, and 20,000 slots allocated to private tour operators.
During the Mou event, the delegation had a meeting with the African Non-Arab Mutawwif, whose Chairman Ahmad Sindi, promised to make the 2023 Hajj better than previous years.
Sindi also mentioned that his agency has implemented the use of double deck beds in the Mashair for some countries in order to accommodate more pilgrims and create more space.
He encouraged participating countries to work hard to ensure a smooth Hajj in 2023.
