The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) have called for a stronger and more unified collaboration among stakeholders to accelerate Nigeria’s digital transformation and build a sustainable technology ecosystem.
This formed the central message at the Principal IT Stakeholders Forum 2025, held in Abuja, where policymakers, IT professionals, and industry leaders converged to deliberate on the future of Nigeria’s digital economy.
Speaking at the event, the Director-General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa CCIE, represented by the Director of Stakeholders Management and Partnerships, Dr. Aristotle Onumo, emphasised that achieving a digitally empowered Nigeria requires collective effort.

“Building a digitally powered Nigeria is not a task that can be achieved in isolation. Collaboration is the key,” Inuwa said.
He highlighted the pillars of the agency’s Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan (SRAP 2.0) 2024–2027, which focuses on digital literacy and talent development, strengthening Nigeria’s technology research ecosystem, enhancing cybersecurity, and building digital trust.
Inuwa called on all stakeholders to actively support NITDA’s ongoing digital literacy initiatives, stressing that inclusivity is vital for ensuring that the benefits of digital transformation are shared across all sectors of the economy.
“We must ensure that as the digital economy grows, no one is left behind. The only way to achieve this is through partnership and shared responsibility,” he added.
The event, jointly organised by NITDA and the NCS Abuja Chapter, served as a platform for stakeholders to discuss strategies for aligning policies, fostering innovation, and strengthening synergy between government, industry, and academia.
The Chairman of the NCS Abuja Chapter, John Odumesi, explained that the forum was designed to promote constructive dialogue and co-creation among stakeholders in order to drive national development.
“This gathering provides an avenue for us to co-create, share perspectives, and discuss constructively for a better Nigeria. Synergy is essential for innovation and growth,” he stated.
Delivering the keynote address, Mrs. Ibukun Odusote, a Fellow of the NCS and former Federal Permanent Secretary, commended NITDA for championing a collaborative approach to digital development.
Speaking on the theme “Aligning Perspectives, Building Synergies: Forging a Unified IT Ecosystem for National Growth,” Odusote gave a historical overview of Nigeria’s IT evolution and urged stakeholders to prioritise cooperation over competition.
“Progress in the IT space cannot be achieved in silos. We must complement one another rather than compete if we are to realise our national aspirations,” she said.
The forum ended with a strong consensus on the need for continuous alignment of efforts among government agencies, private sector players, and academia to advance Nigeria’s digital economy goals and position the country as a leading technology hub in Africa.
