By Alabidun Shuaib AbdulRahman
The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) announced on Saturday that it is conducting a thorough review of the Guidelines for Registration of ICT Service Providers/Contractors.
The aim of this review is to streamline the process for delivering IT services to Ministries, Departments, and Agencies of the Federal Government of Nigeria.
Hadiza Umar, Head of Corporate Affairs and External Relations at NITDA, who disclosed the development in a statement sent to INCNews247, emphasized that these guidelines, initially issued in 2018, outline the registration process for Indigenous IT service providers.

The goal, according to Umar is to ensure the delivery of high-quality IT projects to the federal government, maintain the highest standards of professionalism in IT services, and promote the growth of local IT companies in adherence to relevant Presidential Executive Orders.
“Since the issuance of the guidelines, the Agency has recognized the need to enhance efficiency in the registration process, promote indigenous IT service provision, and engage competent vendors for IT service delivery to Federal Government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies in Nigeria. This aligns with the present administration’s commitment to collective prosperity through efficiency and innovation,” she said.
“The review, leading to the amendment of the guidelines, will open avenues for more digital services from Nigerian companies, thereby strengthening the ease of doing business for IT service providers.
“NITDA aims to collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure that Nigerians benefit from Information Technology, enhancing and simplifying daily activities, especially government and institutional service delivery.
