NPC Boss Assures Nigerians of Accurate, Reliable and Acceptable Census

National Population Commission Chairman, Hon. Nasir Isa Kwarra, has Monday assured Nigerians and development partners that the Commission remains committed to the conduct of an accurate, reliable and acceptable census that will provide demographic data for sustainable national planning and socio-economic development.
Kwarra made the assurance while delivering a keynote address at the 3-day workshop for members of the Commission on Census Operations and Processes in preparation for the 2023 Population and Housing Census in Rivers State.
The workshop, organised by the National Population Commission, aims to enhance the technical and management capacity and skills of top functionaries of the Commission.

In his address, Kwarra stressed the importance of the workshop in achieving an accurate, reliable and acceptable digital census.
He outlined the objectives of the workshop, which include providing end-to-end knowledge of census operations and processes, developing effective synergy of operations between states and headquarters, and guiding members of the Commission on effective advocacy, publicity and sensitization strategies.
Kwarra emphasised that census taking and other mandates of the Commission are complex exercises that require adequate skills and deep knowledge.
He noted that the human population to be counted is large and the information to be collected is numerous, and that this huge task can only be undertaken if the functionaries are properly trained and retrained.
Kwarra urged participants to remain open to fresh ideas and innovations that can make a positive impact on the functions of the Commission and which can make the next census accurate, reliable, and acceptable.
The workshop is being attended by Chairman, HFCs, DG, CTA, HQ Directors, National Coordinators, all Heads of Census Operations, Technical and Support Staff, and Technical and Personal Assistants.
