OFFICIAL: NAHCON Announces 2023 Hajj Fare

By Alabidun Shuaib AbdulRahman

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, has revealed the total cost of Hajj fare for 2023, which will be a little less than three million Naira for Nigerian intending pilgrims.

The announcement was made by NAHCON Chairman, Alhaji Zikirullah Kunle Hassan, at the commission’s Hajj House head office in Abuja on Friday.

According to Alhaji Hassan, pilgrims from Yola and Maiduguri will pay N2,800,000 while those from other northern states will pay N2,919,000.00.

In the southern part of the country, the cost of Hajj fare varies, with pilgrims from Edo state paying N2,968,000.00, those from Ekiti and Ondo paying N2,880,000.000, and those from Cross River paying N2,943,000.00.

Pilgrims from Osun will pay N2,983,000.00, while those from Lagos, Ogun, and Oyo states will pay N2,999,000.000.

Additionally, pilgrims from the south-south and southeast states will pay N2,968,000.00.

Alhaji Hassan attributed the difference in the cost to the varying airfare component of the fare, as some locations are closer to Saudi Arabia than others.

The commission, he added, had met with state chief executives of pilgrim’s boards and agencies, agreeing that the portal for registration of those paying through the Hajj Savings Scheme will be closed on the day of the announcement.

He also emphasised that all intending pilgrims must complete payment of their Hajj fare by April 21.
