Panic in Ikeja Over Massive Gas Leakage Scare …. NEMA Asks Shops to Close

A massive gas pipeline leak is apparently underway in the Ikeja district of Lagos State causing panic among the residents of the area.

Meanwhile, the NEMA Acting Coordinator for Lagos State Territory, Ibrahim Farinloye, has Wednesday verified the news, urging residents in the Computer Village/Underbridge, Awolowo Way and Oba Akran axis, Anifowoshe Street, and Medical Road to avoid coming into touch with naked fire.

He stated the organization has just received distress warnings regarding the event.

Shops and business centers should be kept under lock and key until normalcy returns, according to the Acting Coordinator.

Meanwhile, he stated that emergency personnel are attempting to avoid the unexpected.

“Residents around Computer Village /Underbridge Awolowo Way and Oba Akran axis, Anifowose Street, Medical Road must not open shops or use open naked fire for safety reasons,” he said.

“Distress alerts just received indicate massive leakage of gas pipeline around these areas.

“Let us take utmost safety precautions.”
