Peace and Security: Defence Minister Meets Stakeholders, Security Personnel in Plateau

The Honourable Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, CON, mni, has convened a crucial meeting with key stakeholders in Plateau State, stressing the need for sustained peace and harmony.
Abubakar, who expressed satisfaction with the current peace in the state, particularly in Barkin Ladi, Riyom, Bokkos, Wase, and Bassa Local Government Areas, urged stakeholders to prioritize peaceful coexistence between farmers and herders.
The Minister identified negligence by some leaders, criminal exploitation, and ethno-religious tensions as factors perpetuating crises in the state.

He emphasized the importance of community engagement, credible intelligence, and collective action in addressing security challenges.
“The Federal Government remains committed to deploying all necessary assets to ensure citizens’ safety and security,” Abubakar assured.
Earlier, the Minister commended security personnel combating insecurity in Plateau State, acknowledging significant progress in restoring normalcy.
“I’m honoured to express gratitude for your tireless efforts. The President has sent me to thank you and urge you to intensify your efforts,” Abubakar said.
Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, represented by Special Adviser on Security and Homeland Safety, Brig. Gen. Gakji Shipi, expressed optimism about the stakeholders’ engagement outcomes and pledged continued support for the Nigerian Military.
He acknowledged the significance of such dialogues in tackling the ongoing security challenges in Plateau State and promised to keep supporting the officers and men of the Nigerian Military in the fight against insecurity in the State.
