Several Injured as Police Open Fire on Protesting Journalists, Others in Kwara

The officers of Kwara State Police Command have reportedly Friday fired live ammunition on protesting journalists and other well wishers asking for the release of their colleagues detained on alleged defamation.
The protesters converged early morning in Ilorin to show their grievances.

The demonstrators under the aegis of Association of Kwara Online Media Practitioners, ASKOMP and sister group KOPAN asked for the release of Fresh Insight Publisher, Abdulrasheed Akogun and Dare Akogun of Sobi FM.
The duo were detained on Thursday over a petition of defamation written by the Chief Press Secretary to Kwara Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye.
The police, it was learnt, on the instruction of Kwara Police Public Relations Officer, SP Okasanmi Ajayi arrested Editor-in-Chief of Fresh Insight, Ibrahim Sheriff and Ajadi Ridwan Hajard during the peaceful protest.
While Buhari Ahmed, the Publisher of Afrikaeye, Adisa Jaji of Informant247, Sola Shollyment and others were also wounded.
