Tragic Tanker Explosion Claims Multiple Lives in Ore, Ondo State
Ore, a commercial town located in the Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, experienced a devastating tanker explosion on Sunday evening, resulting in the loss of several lives in the community.
According to reports, the incident was triggered when residents rushed to the scene of a crash involving a tanker in an attempt to scoop petrol from the overturned vehicle.
Eyewitnesses recounted that during the fuel scooping process, the spilled fuel on the road was accidentally ignited by a spark emitted from a mobile phone held by one of the individuals involved.

The unfortunate incident took place along Showboy road, near a filling station in the area.
John, an okada rider present at the scene, provided harrowing details of the tragedy, revealing that the inferno claimed the lives of over 15 individuals, including three children and a pregnant woman.
“After the truck crashed, people began to rush to the scene to scoop fuel. It was in the process that the truck exploded,” he disclosed. “Three children died, and we have counted over 15 bodies. A pregnant woman who wanted to buy fuel also died.”
The State Police spokesperson, Fumilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, confirmed the incident and described the victims as fuel scoopers.
