By Alabidun Shuaib AbdulRahman

The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN has announced an urgent maintenance exercise at its 330/132/33kV Katampe Transmission Substation in Abuja on Saturday.

The company said the maintenance, which commenced at 10am on Saturday, September 5, 2026, was necessary to enable its maintenance crew to seal an oil leakage from one of the transformers at the substation.

In a statement issued on Saturday and signed by its management, the TCN said the exercise was expected to end by 7pm.

The company explained that some circuits would be affected during the maintenance, resulting in temporary disruption in the supply of electricity to some customers.

It added that the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company would be unable to off-take electricity from some feeders supplying its customers from the affected transformer.

“During the maintenance, some circuits will be impacted. Consequently, AEDC will be unable to off-take electricity from some feeders to its electricity customers fed from the transformer,” the statement said.

The TCN apologised to electricity consumers in the affected areas for the inconvenience the temporary interruption might cause.

The company assured the public that the maintenance was being carried out to address the transformer fault and ensure the reliability of the transmission infrastructure.
