The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, has strengthened its collaboration with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in Katsina State to enhance the protection of power transmission infrastructure and curb the rising cases of vandalism and Right-of-Way encroachment.
The renewed partnership was reaffirmed during a courtesy visit by the Assistant General Manager, Transmission, Katsina Sub-Region, Engr. Usman S. Idris, to the NSCDC Katsina State Command on July 6, 2026.
During the visit, Idris commended the command for its prompt response to previous security concerns affecting TCN facilities across the state.

He also briefed the NSCDC on recent incidents of vandalism within the sub-region, including the destruction of Towers T-219 and T-228 along the Katsina–Daura 132kV transmission line.
According to him, the vandalism was discovered during a routine patrol and forms part of a series of attacks on transmission facilities that have become a major concern for the company.
Idris warned that acts of sabotage against power infrastructure threaten the integrity of the national transmission network and could undermine the stability of electricity supply.
He stressed the need for sustained collaboration between TCN and security agencies to safeguard critical national infrastructure and prevent further attacks.
Responding, the Katsina State Commandant of the NSCDC, Abbas Dan-Ile Moriki, disclosed that investigations into the reported incidents had commenced.
Moriki assured the TCN management of the command’s continued support, pledging closer coordination to combat vandalism and Right-of-Way encroachment through proactive security measures.
