The Tinubu Media Volunteers, TMV has said the recent conviction of some Boko Haram terrorists and the accelerated trial of over 500 suspects demonstrate the commitment of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to decisively tackle insecurity.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Chukwudi Enekwechi, and Secretary, Segun Ogedengbe, the group described the development as a sign of renewed vigour in the prosecution of terrorism-related cases and a step towards delivering justice to victims of insurgency.
According to the group, the ongoing trials, taking place in Abuja, signal a shift from years of delay that had characterised the handling of such cases.

The statement read, “With the trial and subsequent conviction of more than 10 Boko Haram terrorists out of over 500 standing trial in Abuja, it is clear that a new vigour has been injected in the prosecution processes aimed at ensuring that justice is served.
“Before now, most of the cases had been lingering without trial between five and seven years.
“It is also noted that the phased trial of the suspected terrorists, which is the ninth in the series, will lead to a speedy dispensation of justice as those found guilty will be penalised for their offences.”
The group further noted that Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja, had sentenced four Boko Haram members to life imprisonment after they pleaded guilty to terrorism charges filed by the Federal Government.
It added that the court also convicted 14 other suspects, handing them prison terms ranging from 20 to 25 years on various counts.
The TMV said the convictions underscored the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening national security and restoring public confidence in the judicial system through the prompt prosecution of terrorism cases.
“It is also gratifying that in the bid to expedite action on the mass trial, the Federal Government, through the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation, empanelled 10 judges to handle the cases as a way of fast-tracking the trial and dispensation of justice,” the statement added.
The group also commended the judges for sacrificing their Easter vacation to focus on the terrorism trials, describing the move as a demonstration of dedication to national service.
