Troops Eliminate Terrorists, Arrest Dozens, Foil N11m Oil Theft

The Armed Forces of Nigeria said on Friday that troops eliminated several terrorists, arrested dozens of collaborators and rescued kidnapped victims during operations across the country between September 3 and 11.
Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, disclosed this in a statement while giving an update on ongoing military activities.
Kangye said in the North-East, troops of Operation Hadin Kai carried out raids in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe States, killing terrorists, arresting 18 suspects and rescuing five kidnap victims.
He added that troops escorting humanitarian trucks on Gubio–Damasak Road engaged terrorists in a firefight, neutralised many and recovered weapons and motorcycles.

In the North-West, troops of Operation Fansan Yamma conducted offensives in Zamfara, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto and Kaduna States.
Fourteen suspects were arrested, 28 kidnap victims rescued and large quantities of arms and drugs recovered.
Kangye also revealed that two suspects were intercepted in Zamfara with N15m cash allegedly meant for ransom payment.
He said joint operations with the Police and NDLEA in Kaduna metropolis led to the arrest of 34 criminals at various black spots, with weapons, motorcycles and cannabis seized.
In the North-Central, troops of Operation Enduring Peace and Operation Whirl Stroke arrested 60 suspects in Plateau, Benue, Kogi and the FCT, while several kidnapped victims were rescued.
A wanted extremist, Abdulrahman Bega, was also arrested alongside four others in Plateau and Kaduna States.
In the Niger Delta, Kangye said troops of Operation Delta Safe destroyed illegal refining sites and seized stolen petroleum products worth over N11.3m.
Thirteen oil thieves were arrested, while two suspected IPOB/ESN members specialised in making IEDs were caught in Delta State.
The Defence spokesman added that relative peace had been maintained in the South-East under Operation Udo Ka.
He urged Nigerians to support the military with credible intelligence.
“We remain focused in our determination to defeat terrorism, banditry and other criminalities. We call on citizens to go about their daily activities without fear of intimidation,” Kangye said.
