The Nigerian military has intensified its crackdown on terrorists, bandits, oil thieves and other criminal gangs across the country, killing scores and arresting dozens in a series of coordinated raids last week.

Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, said in a statement on Friday that the onslaught, carried out between July 29 and August 4, 2025, covered all six geo-political zones.

In the North-East, troops of Operation Hadin Kai, supported by the Air Component, hybrid forces and local security outfits, stormed terrorist hideouts in Borno and Yobe States, eliminating fighters, arresting suspects and rescuing kidnapped victims.

Seven alleged collaborators were also apprehended, with weapons, vehicles and motorcycles recovered, while several IEDs were detonated.

The offensive in the North-West under Operation Fasin Yamma saw troops engage armed gangs in Katsina, Zamfara, Kebbi and Sokoto States, killing multiple fighters and freeing kidnap victims.

Four suspects were arrested, while a wounded victim was evacuated for urgent treatment.

In the North-Central, troops of Operation Safe Haven confronted extremists in Plateau State, killing several, arresting others and rescuing three kidnap victims.

Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke also recorded breakthroughs in Benue, Taraba, Kogi, Nasarawa and the FCT, killing terrorists, nabbing suspects and freeing 12 captives.

A suspected gunrunner and 15 other criminals were also caught with arms, ammunition and over N842,000 in cash.

In the South-South, Operation Delta Safe troops foiled oil theft valued at over N73 million, destroying illegal refineries and arresting suspects in Delta and Bayelsa States.

Weapons, ammunition and N3.6 million were seized, while a kidnapper was killed in a gun duel.

Troops of Operation Udo Ka in the South-East arrested four suspected IPOB/ESN members and a kidnapper in Enugu, Abia and Anambra States, recovering arms, ammunition and a vehicle.

Kangye vowed that the Armed Forces, working with other security agencies, would sustain the heat on criminal elements until peace is fully restored nationwide.
