Troops Foil Oil Theft Worth Over N250m, Arrest Terrorists

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has announced that troops of Operation Delta Safe have foiled oil theft worth N250,425,833.00 within the last one week.
According to the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye in a statement obtained by INCNews247 on Friday, the troops discovered and destroyed 46 crude oil cooking ovens, 26 dugout pits, 23 boats, 44 storage tanks, 52 drums, and 16 illegal refining sites.
Giving the breakdown of the recovered items, Kangye stated that 22,170 litres of stolen crude oil, 28,495 litres of illegally refined AGO, and 3,140 litres of PMS were recovered.

Additionally, troops recovered outbound engines, pipes, pumping machines, drilling machines, horses, tricycles, motorcycles, mobile phones, and 21 vehicles.
The DHQ reported that troops’ operations led to the elimination and arrests of terrorists and violent extremists and criminals, as well as the surrendering of scores of terrorists to troops.
In the North Central, troops of Operation Whirl Stroke conducted offensive operations, killing two extremists and recovering their weapons and ammunition.
In the Southeast, troops of Operation Udo Ka eliminated five violent extremists and arrested two, recovering weapons and ammunition, as well as vehicles.
The DHQ commended the bravery and professionalism of the troops involved in the various theatres of operation and gave reassurances of its continued efforts to ensure the safety and security of citizens.
Also, the DHQ acknowledged the vital role played by the public in supporting the Armed Forces, and averred that the cooperation and support of citizens are essential in the collective efforts to overcome any obstacles that may arise.
