Troops Repel Terrorist Attack on Military Cantonment, Kill 8 in Niger

By Alabidun Shuaib AbdulRahman

On Saturday night, the Nigerian Military killed eight terrorists, foiling their attempt to attack the Wawa Military Cantonment in Borgu Local Government, Niger State.

It was learnt that the coordinated efforts of the Nigerian Air Force and the Army in the area prevented the planned attack, which would have caused further harm to the military and bloodshed in the nearby towns.

It was further gathered that the terrorists intended to release some of their fellows in the military cantonment and maybe launch an attack on nearby villages.

While eight of the terrorists were gunned down, unconfirmed sources said three of them, including their leader, were captured by the Army.

Some of the terrorists were also said to have escaped with bullet wounds while some of the soldiers also sustained some injuries during the fireworks.

The Army has beefed up security in the barracks and the area to forestall any possible reprisal from the terrorists.
