Christmas Day: 8 Burnt Beyond Recognition in Another Fatal Accident in Kwara

There has been a gory accident along Jimba-Oja, a surborb town in Kwara State, where not less than eight passengers, including a child have been reportedly killed.

The unfortunate incident happened on Friday, when a fourteen passenger bus skidded off the road and somersaulted before bursting into flames.

According to an eye-witness at the scene of the occurrence, a bus with registration number GNN 18 XD which was heading to Offa-Osogbo axis was ‘wrongly’ overtaken by a Honda saloon car with registration number LSR 183 DN; the car also lost control in the process of overtaking, the witness told Intercontinental News 247 .

It was gathered that other road users could only watch helplessly as some passengers in the ill fated bus were consumed by fire. However, some few others were lucky to escape death.

Men of the Kwara State Fire Service responded to the distressed call to put out the fire which had wrecked havoc on innocent lives.

Meanwhile the survivors including two children between the ages of nine to ten years whose parents are among the dead have been taken to the hospital by personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Idofian Division while the remains of those who burnt beyond recognition would be conveyed to the State General Hospital Morgue Ilorin.
