Troops Repel Terrorist Attack on Benisheikh Military Base

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have foiled a coordinated terrorist attack on a military formation in Benisheikh, Borno State.
The incident, learnt by INCNews247 occurred at about 12:30am on Thursday, involved insurgents attempting to breach the Brigade Headquarters of the 29 Task Force Brigade.
Confirming the incident in a statement, the Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja said the troops responded with superior firepower and forced the attackers to retreat.
The statement noted that the soldiers, under the commandery of Brigadier General Oseni Braimah, displayed “exceptional courage and professionalism” in repelling the assault.

It added that the failed attack reiterated the desperation of terrorist elements who have suffered significant setbacks in recent military operations across the North-East.
“The swift and decisive response by troops underscores the high level of combat readiness and operational effectiveness of Operation HADIN KAI in safeguarding critical locations,” the statement read.
However, the military disclosed that the encounter resulted in the loss of some personnel, described as “brave and gallant soldiers” who paid the supreme price in the line of duty.
The Chief of Defence Staff, Olufemi Olatunbosun Oluyede, paid tribute to the fallen troops, commending their sacrifice and dedication to national security.
He also extended condolences to the families of the deceased, assuring them that their heroism would remain a source of pride to the nation.
The Defence Headquarters urged the public and media to refrain from circulating unverified reports, stressing the need to allow proper notification of next of kin before further details are released.
It added that clearance operations were ongoing to track fleeing insurgents and prevent them from regrouping.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to ending insurgency in the region, calling on citizens to support security agencies with credible information while remaining vigilant.
