TCN schedules maintenance, announces brief power outage in Suleja

The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN has announced a three-hour annual preventive maintenance exercise on the Gwarinpa–Suleja 132/33kV Line 2 bay switchgears and associated equipment.
The maintenance is scheduled to take place on Saturday between 1pm and 4pm, according to a notice issued by the TCN management on Friday and obtained by INCNews247.
The company, however, said electricity consumers in parts of Suleja and surrounding areas would experience only a 20-minute interruption during the exercise.

It listed the affected areas as Suleja Township, Federal Capital Territory College of Education, Field Base, Zuba, Sabon Wuse and their environs.
TCN explained that the brief interruption would enable its engineers to transfer the electricity load from the Gwarinpa–Suleja Line 2 to the Kubwa–Suleja Line 1.
The transfer, it said, was necessary to facilitate the preventive maintenance without subjecting electricity consumers in the affected areas to a prolonged outage.
The company assured consumers that the interruption would be limited to the period required to carry out the load transfer.
“TCN apologises for any inconvenience this may cause consumers in the affected areas,” the statement signed by the management read.
