Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, on Friday met with heads of security agencies in Ilorin to review ongoing operations and strengthen strategies against rising cases of organised kidnapping across the state.
INCNews247 learnt the closed-door session followed Tuesday’s deadly attack on Eruku community in Ekiti Local Government Area.
Top commanders briefed the governor on fresh intelligence and field reports from ongoing manhunts for the attackers.
Speaking with journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, said the council received extensive updates on the Eruku incident and the broader security landscape in the state.

He said security chiefs briefed the council on recent air interdiction missions that have forced kidnappers to abandon their hideouts, particularly in Ifelodun.
The council, he added, backed the continuation of targeted aerial strikes on identified criminal enclaves.
Adekimi disclosed that, in line with President Bola Tinubu’s directive, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has deployed four tactical squads to the state — the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Special Tactical Squad (STS), and Special Intervention Squad (SIS).
He confirmed that the Police and DSS had arrested several food and fuel suppliers linked to kidnapping gangs.
He added that a man from Makurdi, said to be responsible for fixing weapons for the criminals, was also arrested.
Adekimi said the council approved intensified joint patrols as the Yuletide approaches and directed security agencies to pay closer attention to vulnerable areas across the state.
The meeting raised concerns over what it described as the harmful role of social media in spreading sensitive security information, including ransom-related posts and unverified claims capable of putting residents at risk.
It urged the public to exercise caution and avoid amplifying content that could undermine security operations.
Residents were advised to avoid night farming and late-night social gatherings that could expose them to danger, while also reporting suspicious movements promptly to security agencies, government officials or traditional rulers.
The council also commended the state government’s decision to tighten security around schools, noting that measures may be relaxed or extended based on emerging intelligence.
It described the move as timely, especially in light of Friday’s abduction of schoolgirls in Niger State.
The session ended with a minute of silence in honour of victims of the Eruku Church attack, with the council extending its condolences to the families and the affected community.
