The All Progressives Congress, APC governorship aspirant in Kwara State, Engr. Femi Sanni, popularly known as Araba, on Friday commended workers in the state for their resilience and contributions to development, calling for stronger support for labour.

In a statement issued to mark the 2026 Workers’ Day and obtained by INCNews247, Sanni described workers as the backbone of the economy and a driving force across key sectors, including public service, education, healthcare, agriculture and small-scale enterprises.

He said the sacrifices of workers continue to sustain families and communities, as well as advance the collective aspirations of the people.

The APC chieftain noted that this year’s celebration comes amid economic challenges, including rising cost of living, changing workplace demands and concerns over job security.

According to him, these realities reiterate the need for renewed attention to policies that prioritise the welfare, dignity and productivity of workers.

Sanni also commended organised labour, particularly the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC and the Trade Union Congress, TUC for their advocacy and role in promoting fairness, dialogue and social justice.

He stressed the importance of collaboration among stakeholders, including government, the private sector and civil society, to create an enabling environment for workers to thrive.

The governorship aspirant urged the strengthening of skills development, encouragement of innovation and support for small businesses as part of efforts to build a more inclusive and productive economy.

He added that ensuring fair treatment in workplaces remains critical to national progress.

Sanni further emphasised that the dignity of labour must remain central to societal values, noting that every worker deserves respect and fair conditions.

He, therefore, saluted workers in Kwara State and encouraged them to remain committed to excellence, integrity and service.

“Happy Workers’ Day,” the statement added.
