Badaru Urges Army War College Graduates to Tackle Security Challenges Head-On

The Honourable Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar CON, mni, has urged participants of the Army War College Nigeria to cultivate essential skills and acquire knowledge that can effectively address security challenges in the country.

Badaru delivered this message during the graduation ceremony of Army War College Course 7/2023 in Abuja.

He noted that the War Course represents a crucial learning phase in military careers, highlighting that the insights gained will significantly impact the officers’ contributions to current and future operations.

“Strategic leadership requires an understanding of the intricacies of the environment. it also requires the ability to craft and communicate a vision as well as a selfless commitment to your mission and the people you lead,” he remarked.

Badaru stressed the importance of demonstrating both competence and character in every action, particularly in fostering the development and mentorship of the next generation of leaders.

He expressed appreciation for the commitment, loyalty, and unwavering service of deployed troops across the country, attributing their determination to the restoration of peace and security nationwide.

The Minister extended gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for steadfast support to the Armed Forces, affirming the Federal Government’s commitment to aiding their development of necessary skills and knowledge to combat security threats.

The Commandant of the Army War College Nigeria, Maj. Gen IB Maina, outlined the institution’s mission in his welcome address.

He stated that the college aims to produce well-trained, educated, and inspired operational-level leaders for the Nigerian Army.

Maj. Gen Maina noted that 73 participants from the Armed Forces and other Security Agencies underwent rigorous training, equipping them with the ability to provide operational-level solutions to challenges.
