Brigadier General Y.D. Ahmed, Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has urged corps members to serve as role models and foster unity in their assigned communities.
Speaking at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Wamakko Local Government Area, Sokoto State, during the closing ceremony for the 2024 Batch A Stream 2 corps members, Ahmed noted the importance of maintaining integrity and avoiding criminal activities.
Ahmed, represented by Alhaji Usman Yakubu Yaro, the NYSC Coordinator for Sokoto State, remarked that patriotism, diligence, and perseverance are crucial for nation-building.
“I admonish you to uphold the values of patriotism, diligence, and perseverance, which are essential qualities for nation-building,” he said.
General Ahmed further advised corps members against travelling at night, recommending that they halt their journeys by 6:00 PM and find a safe place to stay overnight.
He also encouraged them to participate fully in their primary assignments and continue with the Skill Acquisition Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program after camp while respecting the local customs and culture of the people in their host communities.
